Road time

State of Chiapas
Comitan
7-March-2016

Left the beach in Chiapas this morning and put  about 200  miles on the gunship.
We ended up in Comitan near the Guatemalan border.
Up about 2000 meters so the weather is delightful.

Driving in Mexico is good, great and sometimes something else.
The toll roads are fantastic.
The topes(speed bumps) can wear on you after awhile.
But passing three cars wide wide with another guy coming at you and nobody getting killed is truly a thing of beauty. I can't help but notice how driving in Mexico has evolved quite a bit over the years. It can be challenging but it is not to be feared.

Unless of course the highway gives way.
Hey, everybody likes a little derrumbe.

Fresh fruit is the big deal of the day. Little girls selling cut up slices of dead ripe mangoes on the side of the road is the perfect breakfast. Guanabana (soursop) juice with pulp and cold milk. Mixed fruit of every type and my own concoction of a mango, guava , milkshake.

Dinner at a local place with cheese and poblano Rajas, a big giant stew bone to gnaw on and a couple of empanadas. A walk around town afterwards and a couple of cookies at the local panaderia.

Today's shots

The band and the fireworks start at noon.
The Cowboys tart when they feel like it

Heaven.
